While Easter is about
Sacrifice and Renewal, it also visits and intertwines the themes of Redemption
and Triumph. While I'm grateful for Christ's sacrifice for all of us. Being a
Warrior, I really appreciate the Triumph aspect. By His sacrifice He laid His
enemies down and His victory has bridged more than 20 centuries. What Warrior
can claim such a victory?A number of pastors has
called me out for referring to Jesus as a Warrior but He opposed oppression. He
fought against the clerics of the day for their convoluted interpretation of the
Holy Bible and publicly eschewed their haughty, aristocratic
manners.By doing so, Christ taught
all who would listen and in His own way...made us Warriors of Christ. Having
taught us and having showed us the "One Way"...He died to cleanse us of our
manifold sins and wickedness. In dying, Jesus triumphed. Many claim that the time of
the "Second Coming" is nigh. I believe not! I believe the current strife and
unChristian attitudes permeating our society could well be Christ's way of
telling us that it's time to reaffirm our faith and beliefs...to pick up our
crosses and remember to carry our swords and shields. It well could be the time
for Warriors of Christ!
