It is abundantly clear that
Obama possesses the foreign policy skills of a Yak. Of course, this was evident
to the cognoscenti in 2007...and even before. I should point out here that he
also has very limited golf skills. That has nothing to do with this commentary
except that he runs from the many crises he faces which beggar his
attention...as the leader of this nation...to the golf course and there may be a
reason. He has an opportunity to improve his golf game and he will never be able
to improve his foreign policy skills because they require the patience and
learning skills of someone far more adept at problem solving than a mediocre
community organizer.Enter the many observations
that Obama is nothing more than a puppet, dancing while his handlers pull the
strings. In times of crisis, he seems to be a person who hasn't had an original,
cogent idea or opinion since Moby Dick was a minnow. Envision, if you will, a
White House staffer entering the oval office and telling Obama that there is a
crisis in...( anywhere ). At that point, Valerie Jarrett enters the Oval Office
and hands Obama a note which reads, "Tee time at Congressional in 15 minutes".
Things more critical and severe require vacations whose length are determined by
the severity of the crisis. At this point, you might
tell me that before he shoe-horned his way into the White House he was a U.S.
Senator. "That", you would continue, "requires brains." My response to that
would be to show you a picture of Harry Reid, the Communist Leader of the
Senate.It seems that Obama only
has the skills to "react". He cannot "act" in the meaning of the word which
dictates a person to take definitive action before a threat becomes a crisis.
Another iteration of this would be that Obama, instead of cutting off the head
of a snake, cuts off the tail. "Just before the Congressional recess, President Obama
invited over a dozen Senate and House leaders from both parties to the White
House to talk about foreign policy. According to two lawmakers inside the
meeting, Obama became visibly agitated when confronted by bipartisan criticism
of the White House’s policy of slow-rolling moderate Syrian rebels’ repeated
requests for arms to fight the Assad regime and ISIS.According to one of the lawmakers. . .the president
defended his administration’s actions on Syria, saying that the notion that
arming the rebels earlier would have led to better outcomes in Syria was
“horseshit.”For the record, and trust me on this, "horseshit" means
bad; "bullshit" means wrong. Obama undoubtedly meant that it is wrong to believe
that arming rebels earlier would have led to better outcomes in Syria.
Attempting to be edgy, the president mis-cursed! Norman Mailer must be spinning
in his grave. But what would have been the outcome in Syria had the rebels been
armed earlier? Who can tell? Now the rebels can be expected to do no more than
cut the tail off the snake which is ISIS. It still has fangs and it still has
poison. The same for Iraq. He will never learn the last minute, half-hearted
solutions have little chance of success. But then, it's really hard to frame the
solution of a crisis when lining up a put. Finally...who knows whether he
really wants to stop Muslim Terrorism?
