Arizona Attorney General Tom Horne's office said Joseph Rudolph Wood was pronounced dead at 3:49 p.m. local time, one hour and 57 minutes after the execution started. The hue and cry about Wood's taking so long to die is enough to make a person sick. He deserved to die. He died...eventually. It's done. Bury the S.O.B. and move on!But it does raise an interesting thought or two. Why rely on injections? This is a costly way to take out the trash! Firing squads would be costly, also, due to the cost of ammunition. And then, there's the problems involved in getting enough soldiers together to form a firing squad. With Obama firing everyone in the Military so he can make his Martial Law thingy work better, it would be hard to find enough soldiers. From what we read in the news about accidental shootings by law enforcement folks, getting them to be the firing squad could take a bit of time until one of them actually scored a hit. There are trees and there is rope. I always thought public hangings could take on the aspect of a cause célèbre. "Pack up the babies and grab the old ladies cause everyone goes" could apply to public hangings. "Yo, Marge! Pack some sandwiches and grab the watermelon! I've got the cooler and beer. Let's go watch 'em hang old Harry." Jim Morris
